For over a century, our parent cooperative has built roads, bridges, and landmarks across Kerala. We bring the same standards to your home.
Started by 14 workers in 1925.
Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society Ltd. (ULCCS) was founded in 1925 by the social reformer Vagbhatananda. Its first 14 members pooled a capital of 37 paise to win fair wages and respect for their work.
Today the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) recognises ULCCS as a model cooperative. It employs thousands of co-owners in construction, information technology, and interior design. UL N'Shore is its design arm: a design studio and timber workshop for high-end homes and commercial fit-outs.

Established in Vadakara, Kozhikode, by Vagbhatananda to protect the dignity of labourers.

How the cooperative works.
What does “worker-owned cooperative” mean?
The carpenters, cabinet-makers, civil designers, and site engineers who work on your project are shareholders in our parent organisation, ULCCS Ltd. Profits go back into the welfare of our workers and the communities we serve, so every craftsman has a personal stake in how well your space is built.
Are your rates higher than a freelance designer's?
Our rates are competitive. We own our timber yards, joinery workshops, and civil fabrication facilities, so there are no subcontractor markups. You get quality materials, such as Grade-A Nilambur Teak, and certified MEP and interior layouts under one clear contract.
Do you offer guarantees on woodwork and turnkey fit-outs?
Yes. All UL N'Shore timber products, modular kitchen frames, and turnkey joinery work carry a warranty backed by ULCCS Ltd. We use high-grade boiling water resistant (BWR) plywood and genuine hardwoods, as listed in our specifications.
Can I visit the studio and choose the timber myself?
Yes. You can book a visit to our office in Kozhikode to look through material boards and timber samples and to meet the lead architect on your project.
